TLDR Recap
Every year, Amazon kicks off the summer with its classic tradition: reminding sellers that hot weather and heat-sensitive products do not mix. And in 2025, that tradition continues with a clear message:
If your product melts, get it out of FBA by April 15, 2025—or risk losing it.
What Are Meltable Products?
According to Amazon, meltable inventory refers to any heat-sensitive product that begins to degrade at temperatures around 155°F (68°C). This includes, but is not limited to:
Chocolate and chocolate-covered goods
Gummies and jelly-based snacks
Wax-based products like candles or lip balms
Amazon’s fulfillment centers are not climate-controlled for meltables during the hotter months, which is why this policy is enforced each year.
Key Dates to Remember
April 15, 2025: Last day Amazon will accept meltable inventory at fulfillment centers.
May 1, 2025: Any remaining meltable FBA inventory will be marked unfulfillable and may be disposed of for a fee.
October 15, 2025: Last day of the meltable restriction period. Inventory may be sent back to FBA starting October 16.
Still Want to Sell Meltables? Use FBM
While FBA is off-limits, sellers can still list meltable products under Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM). If you choose this route:
Use cold packs or insulated shipping when necessary.
Work with carriers that specialize in temperature-sensitive shipping.
Make sure delivery timelines are tight to avoid spoilage.
Why you should check the Meltable ASIN list (even if you don’t sell meltables)
Amazon publishes a Meltable ASIN List and updates it regularly. But here's the kicker: sometimes they get it wrong.
We’ve seen things like hairbrushes accidentally flagged as meltable. No joke.
If your ASIN shows up on the list and it shouldn’t, you can request a review. Here's what you need:
A letter from the manufacturer on official letterhead
Proof that your product can safely handle 155°F for extended periods
A direct point of contact for verification
You can submit this info through Amazon Seller Support.
Why This Policy Matters (Even If You Don’t Sell Meltables)
Sellers often get blindsided when their products are flagged or removed from FBA unexpectedly. Even worse, if you don’t catch it, you might not realize your products have been marked unfulfillable until sales drop.
And for meltable sellers, this policy creates a massive revenue gap between April and October if you’re not prepared to switch to FBM or pause listings entirely.
Final Thoughts
Amazon’s meltable policy is nothing new, but it trips up sellers every year. Whether you sell chocolate, wax, or something totally unrelated (but potentially mislabeled), now’s the time to double-check your ASINs and make a plan.
Do not wait until April 14.
